This could be my most controversial blog yet. Controversy about whether Barney should have dated Juanita and good ole Thel at the same time. Controversy about what Juanita actually looked like. I know that for the most devoted TAGS viewers we all have in mind what we think she would really look like. However, not knowing makes her a more colorful character. Last but not least, controversy about whose girl she was first, Andy’s or Barney’s. Juanita was mentioned in 11 episodes ending in season 5 when as my last blog said Barney Vanishes.

We all know that if roles were reversed and Andy had just disappeared from The Andy Griffith Show like Barney did, Barney would have most certainly formed a posse to find him. It would probably have consisted of Floyd, Otis, and poor old Judd. Barney would have bumbled his way through a house to house search, then a road block at the old road down by Myers lake. Every stone, including the one Opie threw into the water, would have been turned over in his search for Andy.

We all know that Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. was a spin-off from The Andy Griffith Show. This is a special case though. The actual inspiration for Gomer Pyle was the movie No Time For Sergeants in which Andy Griffith starred as Private Will Stockton. Like the character of Gomer, Will was a country bumpkin that caused chaos and trouble for all those around him. He filmed two versions of the movie the first in 1955 then again in 1958.
